The Funny Farm

So I might have hinted here or there about animals around here but figured we should just do a list and some pictures. It is quite the funny farm around here at times! Lol. So here we go.....

First off there is Angel. She is one of the oldest residents around here. She is totally and completely Sissy's dog. She is a German Shepherd that weighs in at a whopping 107 lbs!

Next up would be Henry. You have already been introduced to him a bit. He is what they call a Bully. He is an absolute mess. Somehow he has completely won over those who can see past him being a jerk. Lol. He has a bad habit of being a jerk to people until they show that they don't believe all of his bologna. But I can tell you that absolutely no one will come into his house that he doesn't want to! He is also pretty lazy. He doesn't want to be messed with before 10am. Lol. Literally, most of the time he hides back there on my bed as long as he can. He is also a MAJOR blanket baby. He HAS to have a blanket to lay on no matter what time of day or what the weather is. He is Sweethearts dog although Sweetheart says he doesn't like dogs and could care less about having one. You should see them get in the floor and wrestle! I don't know who has more fun, him or the dog!

The newest addition to the canine variety is Echo. She was listed at the shelter as an American Pit Bull Terrier. I can see that in her as I have owned one of the original APBT (which are completely different than what most people associate as a Pit Bull) but I'm also pretty sure she has some Dalmatian or something in her. Now that her fur is thinning for summer she is covered in black spots. Lol. She is my girl and goes everywhere with me. She is pretty high strung but you can guarantee that she is always ready and willing to go! Unlike Henry! Oh and she LOVES her pretties! You go to get a collar or bandana and she comes running and sits pretty waiting for you to put them on. It hilarious!

I can't find pics but there are two cats around here too. Lightning is the oldest resident here and is now 7 years old. He is Sissy's cat and used to love to hunt and bring back all kinds of yucky goodies that you would step on! Now that he has gotten older the only thing he hunts is the food dish. The other cat running around is Crybaby. We got her shortly after moving to the farm and she is just as bad as Lightning. They now hunt the food dish together.

As I mentioned before we have multiple rabbits. We use them to sale or for meat for our family. But we still enjoy playing with the babies! We have a doe right now that has 10 babies at a time! Talk about multiplying!

A month or so ago we ventured away from the usual furry family members and added a reptile to the mix! Introducing Mushu the bearded dragon.....

He is just a baby and has a lot of growing to do. He will end up being close to 2 ft long!

And just because we don't really do the whole normal animal thing we also have an African Clawed Frog. We named him Froglet and he is a completely aquatic frog and he will eat out of your hands. It is pretty neat. He is just a baby right now too. We got him some friends to hang out with him in his aquarium. There are 5 tetras (Froglet will eventually eat them but it won't be until he gets a lot bigger) and a snail named Escargot. Lol

Oh! And then there is Beta. He is a beta fish. Lol. Not real original with names around here but when you have to name as many animals as we do you start grasping for straws!

I think that I already mentioned Bluebell the milk cow. There are also several more cows but we will just leave it at that. And yes, they all have names!

Well, everyone is ready for bed around here.

Be back soon with some more pics and updates that I hopefully won't bore you to death with!

And so we continue.....

Still have a long way to go.....so hang on tight!

So the kids have come up with new names for me to call them on the blog. Now introducing.....

Astrid and Hiccup. (Can you guess what their new favorite movie is? Lol And yes we realize that those characters are actually boyfriend/girlfriend in the movie but we can just pretend.)

So I guess that makes me Valka and Sweetheart is Stoick. I am still in awe of the love shown between those two in the movie. It was so stinking sweet and so very sad. I HATE crying at movies and really feel like a fool when it is a kids movie that makes me cry!

Ok, so to get caught up a little quicker I will just post some picture and maybe make a comment occasionally. I am still trying to figure out how to work blogging into all the craziness around here so right now I'm a little crunched for time.

Here lies the reason why her daddy owns guns!

My new little sewing spot. Love it! And we have made several projects since putting it all together. Hopefully I will be able to share some of those soon!

Astrid stepped into the world of cell phones this year. It's very handy for the kids to have a cell phone around the farm. She can also look at the chickens and could probably run this farm all on her own at this point. More on that later!

We now raise rabbits to sell and for meat for our family. More on that later too.

This is totally normal, right?

For Astrid's birthday all she wanted was to ride a horse. Thankfully we had a friend with a horse that was willing to take the time to give her a ride. She didn't stop smiling the whole time!

So now we are getting closer to the here and now. These are from Easter of this year.

This kid has some crazy thick and coarse hair. I'm pretty sure our friend that cuts his hair cringes every time I call her. Lol

And so this brings us to the present. Since our lives revolve around the life cycle of a chicken we have to grab a vacation any chance we get. Before this last flock we took the kids to the zoo. Thankfully we kept them in our sights or I'm sure some well meaning zoo keeper would have escorted the little monkeys back to their cage! LOL

The past year......

So since it's not really feasible for me to go back years and update we will just have to settle for the past year or so. How's that? So hang on to your mouse and enjoy the ride!

***This is the point where I have to cry and whine for a few seconds and tell y'all all about the fact that I just spent 2 hours working on this post on my Ipad only to lose it when I was almost done!!!!!! So now I'm back to the big computer. Probably will be awhile before I can trust my Ipad again. LOL

This would be me and my highschool sweetheart. From here on out he will be referred to as Sweetheart. And let me just go ahead and state right here that he is one awesome man! Don't think I'm saying that to earn any brownie points or anything because he probably will never read this. It's just the God's honest truth. I'm one very lucky woman!

This is Sissy. AKA T-Rex. That is her new nickname from her brother. You know....big legs (she has mile long legs), small arms (when they wrestle she does this funny little swinging arms thing) and a big mouth (well, that is pretty self explanatory). Yep, that's her brother for you. The pic is from a little over a year ago. She is growing up so fast and is now a little lady. She turned 12 years old earlier this year and leaves me shaking my head most days. I am pretty sure she is the cause of most of these gray hairs that keep showing up on my head!

This is Bubby. He is such a great little boy. He is so tough on the outside but has such a HUGE heart. He is always building stuff and coming up with many crazy ideas!

The fury kid is Henry. As you can see he is a pit bull. The only thing bigger then his head is his heart. He is a total ham and truly loves his family. Sweetheart's family is very anti pit bull but he has completely and totally won them over. In fact when we go to visit them we have to bring Henry or the first thing that they say is "where's Henry"? Somehow he has them convinced he has such a hard life so they have to spoil him when he comes over!

This is my awesome family! They are definitely the best things that ever happened to me.

The munchkins Easter 2013. Aww...wait....who are these kids?!

That's more like it! LOL

Sweetheart, isn't he handsome? Oh...and me.

Did I mention that Henry is a ham?

"WHAT? It just exploded, Mom! Really!"

Typical school day.

We learn a lot of things through what we experience in everyday life. Like here we learned that a big worm that's big enough to be a snake makes Mom a little squeamish!

We even found the beginning and the end of a rainbow one day! We learned on this day that someone has been telling some big fat lies because there was not any gold to be found at the end of that rainbow!!

We built Sweetheart a shop out of an existing barn on the farm. It's so nice for him to be closer to home. Especially since he has become such a popular mechanic!

Didn't take him long to put me to work! LOL

The kids had a great place to play for a bit. Then reality of a working shop set in and now there is only working room. Poor kids.

We are all pretty avid hunters around here. We can't let a little thing like a sprained ankle keep us out of our tree stands! LOL And of coarse we have to do our best to keep it girly too! Well, that goes for us girls. The boys, well, they keep it manly.

Ham, again.

This furry member of the family is Bluebell. She provides up with a cute little calf every year and with more milk then we can dream of using. She also plays substitute horse. Lol. Sissy dreams of owning a horse one day but we haven't been able to convince Sweetheart that it is such a good idea. So for now she practices with the cow. Every day she goes out there and leads her around and then brushes and combs her. I am pretty sure that Bluebell will be just as happy as Sissy for a horse to come along! Poor cow.

Did I mention his big heart?

Ok. Going to take a little break and split some of this up. I'll be back to catch y'all up in just a bit.
